Important updates to Standard Bank online and mobile banking
The security features for Standard Bank’s online banking products are changing.
Effective June 5, 2014, your private image and pass phrase will no longer be displayed when logging into our online banking services. Instead, you will be able to verify the security of our site by noting your address bar at the top of our screen is green or contains green text. This new Extended Validation (EV) certificate triggers web browsers to display a green address bar and our site provider’s name, Fiserv, Inc., in green text.

When are the changes effective? Web address bars are now green on our online banking site, allowing you to verify you are on a secure site. Effective June 5th, your image and pass phrase will no longer be displayed when logging in to your online account.
Who is affected? The image and pass phrase change affects consumer account holders that utilize Online and Mobile Banking.
Does the “green address bar or green text” apply to the Mobile Banking App? This type of security technique is not used in the Mobile Banking App. However, the Mobile Banking App uses layers of security to verify the user’s identity by the user’s password and registered device. If you log in using a different phone or from a different location, you may be asked additional security questions.
Your private image and pass phrase will no longer be displayed on the Mobile Banking App.
